Molecular Pathogenesis of Infectious and Inflammatory Eye Research Conference

The overall objective of MPIIER 2005 is to increase the understanding of ocular infectious diseases in ways that will foster collaborations and lead to translational research projects.  This will occur at several levels including facilitating interactions between investigators in the visual sciences and investigators in basic immunology and infectious diseases.  To this end, most sessions will feature speakers from vision and non-vision related areas.  Also, the meeting will bring together investigators examining host immune responses with those working on microbes and microbial virulence, bring together investigators looking at the innate arm of the immune response, microbial recognition, with those working on immunological memory, and will bring together investigators working on basic aspects of immune pathogenesis with those working in more translational research such as gene transfer.
