Essentials of Behavioral Vision Care

Course Description

For: Therapists, Staff, and Non-Optometrists

This course will provide the attendees with the theory that is part of the The Art & Science of Optometric Care—A Behavioral Perspective (BVC) course now only open to optometrists. The basic principles of behavioral vision will be discussed, as will the theory of how function can alter structure over time. Terms that will be fully defined include: embeddedness, prevention, and stress. The actual how-to of the analytical examination will be omitted but the insights gained from the analytical will be explained. The development of refractive conditions including myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism will be covered. There will be a section on behavioral optics and the use of lenses. Learn what an optometrist looks for during the evaluation and in subsequent progress exams. This will help therapists and staff to better communicate with their optometrist and to support his or her treatment plans with patients.

Each course participant will receive a manual which includes suggested readings and diagrams.
