Frontiers in IOLs
This course will cover the basics of intraocular lenses for both
technicians as well as surgical assistants. This would be followed
by a detailed description of new IOL materials and designs,
including the light adjustable lens, expansile lenses, small
incision IOLs, and bifocal lenses.
Visual
Fields – A Primer
This course will teach basic interpretation of visual fields.
Humphrey perimetry will be stressed, using clinical examples to
illustrate key points. A collection of important clinical cases,
along with interpretations, will be handed out at the conclusion
of the course.
An
Update on Macular Degeneration
This presentation provides an update on current treatments for
age-related macular degeneration.
Sterile
Techniques
This course will cover basic information on procedures such as
cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization of commonly used
ophthalmic equipment and surfaces.
New
Procedures in Refractive Surgery
Femtosecond laser replacement of the microkeratome for LASIK is a
growing technology with advantages and disadvantages which will be
presented.
Retinopathy
of Prematurity
This course will cover the background, pathogenesis, and clinical
management (screening, laser, surgical treatment) of retinopathy
of Prematurity. Outcomes and adult sequelae will be presented.
OCT in
Retinal Diseases
This presentation will provide an overview of Optical Coherence
Tomography technology along with an introduction to the retinal
diseases for which it is used. Application in retinal disorders,
capability of technology, clinical feasibility and clinical
management advances will be included.
Challenging
Cases
This course will present various clinical case histories in a
grand rounds format. The audience will participate in determining
appropriate examination testing to assist the physician in
diagnosing the case.
The
Neuro-Ophthalmologic Exam
Participants will learn the elements of the basic
neuro-ophthalmologic examination, with emphasis on special exam
techniques for specific neuro-ophthalmologic conditions.
